The studio that popularised the daily must-drop jackpot, a mechanic now used across the industry.
Red Tiger's commercial idea was the time-limited jackpot. Instead of a progressive prize that grows indefinitely until someone wins it, a daily jackpot must be awarded before a deadline, which changes the player's relationship with it: the prize is smaller but it is guaranteed to drop, and it drops often enough to be visible.
The mechanic has since been adopted widely, because it solves a marketing problem rather than a mathematical one. A jackpot that must pay out today is a reason to play today, which is precisely what an operator's promotional calendar needs.
The studio was acquired by NetEnt in 2019 and passed to Evolution with it in 2020.
The companies that design and build the games themselves, principally slots. They are paid a share of the revenue their games generate rather than a licence fee, which is why a studio's commercial fortunes depend on a small number of titles performing across many operators.
