Stoke-on-Trent
bet365

Reference last reviewed 27 October 2026
A multi-brand operator group built by acquisition, and half-owner of BetMGM in the United States.
Entain was called GVC Holdings until 2020 and grew by buying businesses that larger rivals considered too complicated: Sportingbet, the bwin.party group, and then the British retail bookmaker Ladbrokes Coral. The result is a portfolio of brands that are strong in particular countries rather than a single global brand, which suits a market where licensing and advertising rules are national.
Its American position is held through BetMGM, a joint venture with MGM Resorts in which Entain supplies the technology and MGM the casino brand and property network. The structure is a direct consequence of American licensing, where a land-based casino relationship is either required or strongly advantageous.
The group has also been the subject of one of the industry's largest regulatory settlements, over historic conduct at a Turkish-facing business it had previously owned, which is the standard reference case for how legacy market exposure can follow an operator long after the business has been sold.
The companies that hold the relationship with the player: they take the stake, hold the account, pay the winnings and carry the licence in each market they serve. Almost everything else in this directory exists to supply them.
