The renamed 888 Holdings, which acquired William Hill's non-American business and now operates both brands.
888 Holdings was founded in 1997 and built its reputation on online casino and poker rather than betting. In 2022 it acquired the non-American business of William Hill, one of the oldest names in British bookmaking, including its retail estate, and the combined group renamed itself evoke in 2024 to signal that neither brand was the parent identity.
The combination put a casino-led online operator in charge of a large retail bookmaker, and the integration of two very different cost structures and customer bases has been the group's defining project since. William Hill's shops remain a significant part of the business in a market where retail betting has been in long decline.
888poker is one of the surviving independent poker networks outside the market leader, which matters because poker liquidity concentrates: players go where other players are, so a second-tier network is harder to sustain than a second-tier casino.
The companies that hold the relationship with the player: they take the stake, hold the account, pay the winnings and carry the licence in each market they serve. Almost everything else in this directory exists to supply them.
