A Romanian operator that grew from retail betting into one of central Europe's larger online businesses.
Superbet was built on a retail betting estate in Romania and converted that presence into online scale, a sequence that worked in central and eastern Europe where brand trust was tied to physical shops. It has since expanded into Poland, Belgium through the acquisition of a licensed local operator, and Brazil.
The group is a useful illustration of how an operator enters markets with structural barriers. Belgium requires an online licence to sit behind a land-based one, so Superbet acquired a company that already held the land-based licence. Brazil required local incorporation and a substantial authorisation fee, so entry was capitalised in advance with institutional investment.
The companies that hold the relationship with the player: they take the stake, hold the account, pay the winnings and carry the licence in each market they serve. Almost everything else in this directory exists to supply them.
