The Polish ministry that permits online betting while reserving online casino to a state operator.
Poland's 2016 amendments to its gambling act, in force from 2017, created a workable permit for online sports betting and at the same time reserved online casino games to a single state-owned operator. There is therefore no route for a commercial operator to offer online slots or table games to Polish customers.
Enforcement is built on a public register of blocked domains maintained by the ministry, which internet providers must implement, together with a prohibition on payment processing to listed operators. The register is updated continuously and is one of the largest of its kind in Europe.
Online betting is taxed on turnover rather than on revenue, which has a marked effect on the pricing of Polish betting products and on which markets operators choose to offer.
